“Self-efficacy is the extent or strength of one’s belief in one’s own ability to complete tasks and reach goals.” Ormrod, J. E. (2006)
People who believe in their ability to accomplish things DO accomplish things. However, there is a chicken and egg question here – which comes first? To grow that belief, people need to see themselves succeed. That’s where academic coaching can be invaluable. A coach who shows a student how to succeed can help that student foster success in the future. Nothing breeds success like success does!
